Painting

Current Series In Still Artist Statement:

As an oil painter, I have been trained in utilizing light and dark to create objects, people, and mood out of paint. I am intrigued by the feeling of color. I am interested in the way light takes on different shapes: how those shapes are altered by the physical objects they drip upon. I don’t create scenes, I strictly seek out spaces. These sought out places possess intense, direct light. Many times, my oil paintings expose everyday moments that are easily looked over. We run out the door to get to work on time and miss a sunrise climbing up the wall. No moment is the same as the last and my current series reflects that idea. Sometimes that means painting the same couch multiple times because time is ever-changing. What draws me to shaped light is its fleeting movement, the desire to take a second look only to realize the scene has already passed. I like to think that my current work is reflective of the ordinary world and beautiful it can be if given a chance.
